Prof. Anna Brook

- Development and application of advanced methods in image and signal processing, machine learning, data fusion, and spectral modeling, integrating spectral, spatial, and temporal dimensions.
- Understanding of natural processes and human impacts on the biophysical environment, with applications in climate change, wildfire risk assessment, agriculture, urban ecology, and ecosystem monitoring.
Prof. Anna Brook is an Associate Professor at the School of Environmental Sciences, University of Haifa. She is the Head of the Remote Sensing and Spectroscopy Laboratory, where she leads innovative multidisciplinary research at the intersection of data science, remote sensing, and environmental sciences. She is also serves as Head of the IDIT Program, Chair of the MA Committee, and Head of the MA Program in Spatial Information Systems (GIS and Remote Sensing).
Prof. Brook earned her B.A. in Geography and Human Environment, M.A. in Remote Sensing, and Ph.D. in Spectroscopy and Remote Sensing from Tel Aviv University. During and following her doctoral studies, she conducted postdoctoral research at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), focusing on advanced remote sensing, data fusion, and environmental applications. She later served as a researcher in the CISS Department at the Royal Military Academy of Belgium (2011–2013), as part of the European Union FP7 DOTNAC project.
Research conducted in her laboratory is characterized by a strong multidisciplinary approach and the integration of physical, computational, and hybrid modeling frameworks. Her work aims to advance technological innovation with environmental and societal impact, emphasizing sustainability, decision-support systems, and applied environmental intelligence.
Prof. Brook has received multiple awards and recognitions for her research excellence, including the “Yakir” Award for outstanding academic achievement, first place in the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) accelerator program (Starburst Aerospace – Start-Up Nation Finder), the Best Paper Award at the Remote Sensing in 2022, and the International Research Awards on New Science Inventions for innovative scientific contributions.
