The first event of the Haifa SPARK alliance for innovative medicine – program Led by Carmel Ltd and RAMBAM hospital for drug development and diagnostics - took place on Jun 28th.
The mission of Haifa SPARK alliance is to accelerate the translation of research discoveries into novel therapies and to position Haifa as a major hub of innovative drug discovery.
Selected projects will benefit from mentorship by leading industry experts and selected lectures on the different aspects of translating research into therapies.
Dr. Ruth Perets, Head of Women’s Cancers Research Lab in the Division of Oncology at Rambam, Mrs. Elka Nir, CEO of Carmel Ltd: the Economic corporation of the University of Haifa and Dr. Roee Atlas, CEO of Rambam MedTech introduced the SPARK program. They thanked the mentors of SPARK who include Dr Shany Blum, founder of several companies, Dr Noa Sher, Chief Scientist at Minovia Therapeutics and Dr Merry Sherman, CEO at Montain View Pharmaceuticals.
Professor Yinon Ben-Neriah from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem gave the inspiring first lecture of SPARK on the theme of “Considering alternatives to oncogene-targeted therapy".
